Wreath Day - This Saturday, December 16 Starts at 11:00am

Volunteer Your Group

On Friday the 16th (set-up) and Saturday the 17th (wreath day) we have other things to get done aside from the wreath laying.
Do you have a group that can help?
Set-Up Day - Friday to offload boxes. We start set-up at 9am and would love some help.
Wreath Day - Saturday (wreath day) our primary need is to help check the sections to be sure the wreaths have been laid in the correct place. This starts at 1pm and takes about 30 minutes.
If you can help, simply send an email to Let us know how to contact you and how many are in your group.

Time To Remember, Honor & Teach

• The ceremony begins promptly at 11:00 am, rain or shine and is dedicated to honoring and remembering our military.
• The ceremony will last about 40 minutes and is held in the Hemicycle at the center of the cemetery.
• Instructions for how and where to lay the wreaths will be provided and then following the ceremony will be the placement of the wreaths.
Anyone can volunteer! There is no registration and no paperwork needed to volunteer for the wreath laying, just come out and enjoy the day.
We expect over 15,000 to be in attendance. Your best option by far is to park at Greenspoint and taking our free shuttle.
• We suggest arriving at the cemetery early.
• Due to very limited cemetery parking, we suggest parking at Greenspoint Mall and riding our FREE shuttles that bring you straight into the cemetery.
• The Shuttle - begins running at 6:00 am and runs until 2:30 pm. Please park near the old Sears at Greenspoint Mall.
• Cemetery - parking at the cemetery is usually full by 9:00 am.
• Metro - park at the N. Shepherd Park & Ride (Special Shuttle); the bus will bring you to the cemetery. Bus fare is $1.25 or use a QCard.
NOTE - Shuttle service is continual but please be patient after the ceremony as everyone wants to leave at the same time.

Laying of the Wreaths
After the ceremony, please walk to any of the sections where we are placing wreaths and begin laying wreaths upon the heroes’ place of rest.
If you are able to attend the ceremony and have a special request for a loved one, this is the time to lay the wreath for your loved one.
This is not a race. Please take your time and be respectiful.
Take a moment at each headstone to remember they had a life story, a family and friends that miss them. Remember in that moment the individual’s name, their family and service to this great country.
We look forward to this day united as a community to renew our spirits in making a difference and honoring our fallen heroes one wreath at a time.

Wreath Day 2017 Motorcycle Escort

Join us for our honor ride as we escort the wreath trucks to Houston National Cemetery. The ride is free and open to all. For details please Click Here

On January 20th we will remove the wreaths that have now served their purpose. We will need as many hands as possible to make the task easier. Usually we are done in under 2 hours. No ceremonies, no forms, no money, just making quick work to get the cemetery back to its normal beauty.
